Trap, Neuter, Release ...

So. Its been about 4.5 months since I casually walked inside with the neighbourhood stray cat.

So my plans of trap, desex, and release have been highly successful. I have 'trapped' (aka picked up the deathly ill FIV+ tom cat and walked inside with him and set him up in my bathroom), de-sexed (after 4 weeks of fighting a kidney infection and other who knows what types of infections with injections of antibiotics and steroids, he was able to be de-sexed) and released him (after 2 months of quarantine while all my other cats got updated FIV vaccines done) into my house.

There have been behavioural issues. He's not a fighter nor aggressive to the cats - thank goodness. He's a kind cat who grooms Webster - his first friend and Hugo - his second convert and devoted friend. The three boys play. Like crazy nutjobs because who doesnt love cat chasing cat chasing cat at 6am? Thump thump thump crash up and down the hall-way as they launch themselves under the bed only to collide with the wooden boxes I use to store my shoes ... Who doesn't want that in their life?!

Hugo actually used to be a bit socially awkward through no fault of his own - he lived in a single cat home with my friend and he's awesome with children as a result. He loves people. Cody rough and tumbled with him when he was a few months old and that probably didnt help! Cody is awesome at teaching other cats bad habits and beating them up. He's a boof but I love him. Like. A. Lot.

My big boy, The Captain of the house, Cody-Cat is not won over by Biggie-Biggie at all. He's the dominant male of the home and he will be groomed by no one. Cody however tolerates him incredibly well to the point where I will say he is accepted. There are still glares and Cody looks like a grump, but there are no fights. Cody rocks.

Biggie-Bigmeister has certainly made himself at home.

Biggie is dreadfully affectionate ... He grabs my hand and cleans and snuggles ... Does the same with my feet. I am clearly co-owned by the neighbourhood stray, who happens to hang out in my house as he is too terrified to go outside.

How could you throw that away?

When a BroCat loves a BroDog

Webster aka Webby LOVES Brodie. He seeks his dog-brother out and loves him up.

Makes me melt.

Big Bear

I have an accidental spare cat ... He deserves better than what he's been given in life so far.

So he's currently in my bathroom curled up inside a padded igloo.

I have no idea how old the big boy is. He's a SOLID tomcat with secondary sex characteristics - in other words face shields and thick neck. His face is twice the size of my Cody-Cat's face!

Today at the vet I wanted to get him desexed. But I realised last night that he was suffering an infection. I could see him moving more stiffly in the light, holding one of his back legs uncomfortably, and his nose was warm. So instead I had him tested for FIV (positive) and Leukaemia (negative) which now gives me an idea of where he is. He also has inflamed kidneys. He's had a long acting antibiotics, mild anti-inflammatory, and flea treatment. As he's FIV positive I can't let him back into the neighbourhood ... So, I get to reconsider things. Either find him a home where they are willing to take in a sook, or see about building the cat run I was thinking about down the side of the house.

Anyway ... Here's Big Bear ... Previously Mr. Peepers the Tom Cat ...

Here's the rest of the mob showing a great deal of interest in the furry person in our bathroom ...

Then Big Bear settled down ...

So turns out that this total Tom Cat is also the biggest sweet heart. He is friends with my neighbours cat. Not a fan of dogs (especially since the neighbours Am-Staff X Staff (big massive horrible boofhead) attacked this poor guy and had him in his mouth and shook him ... Turns out he's gorgeous and sweet (As well as smelly and intact and dirty and in such poor condition.)

So ... here we are.

I'm certifiably insane.

Riduculous Brother Cat/Dog Love

So I'm on the lounge recovering from a car accident (not my fault - but crap it hurt) ... And these two are on my blanket. Seriously. No. Shame.

Webby loves his Brodie.
